Articles and nodes
The screenshot at the top of this page shows two panes inside the main TreePad Enterprise window. The left-hand pane is called the 'tree pane', the right-hand pane is called the 'article pane':
The article pane consists of a word processor, which allows you to type in your data. You can also insert
hyperlinks and images. The text inside the article pane is called the 'article'.
The tree pane enables you to browse your data. The tree pane consists of 'tree nodes'. Each node
is associated with one article. If you select a different tree node, then a different article is
loaded in the right-hand pane (article pane).
Multi-gigabyte databases
TreePad X Enterprise comes in three editions, which are functionally equal:
The 384 Gigabyte edition supports databases of up to
384 Gigabytes (which is equivalent to 600 CD-Rom's or 90 DVDs) on Windows 7, XP, Vista, 200x and NT (on NTFS drives),
and can open eight databases simultaneously inside one program instance. You can always start multiple program instances.
Please note that on FAT drives and Windows 95, 98 and ME the maximum database size is always 12 Gb.
The 12 Gigabyte edition allows for database sizes up to
12 Gigabytes (equivalent to 18 CD-ROM's or 3 DVDs)
on Windows 7, XP, Vista, 200x, NT, 9x, ME (on NTFS and FAT drives) and can open eight databases simultaneously.
The multi-user edition, called TreePad X Enterprise Server can access up to 384 Gb per database.

Compatibility
Tree icons Each tree node can be marked with its own icon. TreePad comes with its own default icon library, containing a set of 160 useful tree-icons. A large number of additional icon libraries is available for free. You can also create your own icon libraries. TreePad offers a variety of icon management functions: copy/paste of icons between tree nodes, paste icon to entire subtree, apply icon to entire subtree, set default icon for subtree, hide tree icons, create new icon library, load icon library, add icon(s) to library, remove icon(s) from library, export icon(s) from library, etc.

Drag-and-drop
Rearrange the tree by dragging nodes to another location.
Move blocks of text inside the article using drag-drop.
Drop text blocks from the article into the tree to create new nodes/articles.
Drop texts and hyperlinks from other programs (like Mozilla or MS Word)
directly into the article or tree.
Drop one or more files (from e.g. the Windows Explorer file manager) into the treepad article to create
file hyperlinks.
Drop one or more files/folders (from e.g. the Windows Explorer) onto the tree to directly import those files as nodes/articles.
Drag-drop files of any type into the attachment pane to import these files into the database.
Drag-drop files of any type into the article and import them as images and attachments.
Drag-drop an entire folder (from e.g. the Windows Explorer) onto the tree to recursively import all (importable) files and folders.

For more information, please see this page. Tree clipboard The tree clipboard can be used to transfer and copy subtrees inside the current database, or between databases. TreePad can copy (or cut) complete subtrees (including all contained articles, images, icons) to the tree clipboard. From the tree clipboard, you can paste subtrees into the current database (at a different location in the tree), or into another database, or another TreePad instance.

Search engine
An extremely useful feature is the internal search engine (screenshot below), which is able to locate any article or node inside a TreePad database. It features a number of 'smart' options which can be combined to optimize your search: Search the entire database or only the current subtree.
Search node titles only, articles only, or both.
Search for articles/nodes containing 'all the words'
Search for articles/nodes containing 'some of the words'
Search for articles/nodes containing 'the exact phrase'
Advanced (boolean) search, using a combination of 'all words' (AND),
'some words' (OR), 'none of the words' (NOT), and 'the exact phrase'.
Limit search to items which are changed between a specified date range (optional)
Sort search results on date/time, node caption, location and node path
Display node path, name, date/time in search results
Case-sensitive and case-insensitive search
Search inside the current article.
Search /replace inside the current article
Easily switch between article and tree search
Internet search with: standard search, advanced search, search the Web, search discussion groups (usenet), search news and online newspapers, search for images, lookup words in an online dictionary and lookup words in an online thesaurus.
Instant Website generation!
Additional and advanced HTML functions
Article search dialog
Convenient article search and search/replace dialog with the following options: case sensitive, count occurrences/replacements, start from cursor, search whole words, replace all/one, confirm replace, show/hide options, switch to tree-search, close dialog when done.
Import/export TreePad X Enterprise introduces an wide range of import and export capabilities: Export of any subtree (nodes/articles) to multiple files (HTML, Text or RTF). This can be done recursively (optional) creating new directories at each new level.
Export of any subtree (nodes/articles) to a complete Website
including dynamic (Javascript) tree pane, PHP search engine, hyperlinks, images, icons, text formatting.
Export of a subtree (nodes/articles) to a single HTML file with tree indentations at each new level.

single executable file containing the data (text, images, icons, links) as well as the viewer program (including search engine).
Note: the text-part of the subtree you want to convert to this format needs to be 20 Mb or less.
Export to PDF through TreePad-to-PDF. Currently this does not include images and text formatting.
Import multiple (.txt, .rtf, .html) files at once into a subtree: any selection and combination of file types
can be imported into a subtree in one go
Recursively import a directory structure of files (.txt, .rtf, .html) as a tree structure (of articles and nodes).
Generate multiple hyperlinks to files in one go
