Entering symbols

You can also use the character map to insert symbols from specialized symbol fonts, such as Wingdings.

First click inside the article, and select a symbol font in the Font face combobox in the formatting toolbar such as 'Wingdings'. Then click inside the article again and open the charactermap which will display all the symbols in that font.

After this, inserting a symbol is a matter of clicking on the corresponding character in the character map.

Which might result in something like this:

º&#!<J<8*"[

Wingdings is not the only symbol font. There are many other symbol fonts available, quite a lot of them are free. Just search the Internet for e.g. 'Dingbats' or 'Symbol fonts', or go to our own listing of font resources on: www.freebyte.com⁄office⁄#fontdirectories
