Working with the tree

The tree on the left side of the screen is used to organize your information. The tree is composed of "nodes" each of which can have a corresponding article in the text field. There is no limit to the number of nodes.

You can add nodes, name them what you want, and rearrange or sort them.

You can move up and down the nodes by using the up and down arrow keys.

Types of nodes

• The root node is the highest level of a tree or subtree. A root node may have several children. If it has children it will have a  at the left if the children are hidden and a  if they are visible.
• A child node is indented one level from the root node. A child node may have children of its own.
• A sibling node is at the same level as another node

Adding a child node

Select a node with your mouse or the arrow keys then

• Right click the node, choose Insert node from the context menu, then Child or
• Click on or
• Press [Insert]

A new node will appear named "New subject." Type a name for the new node and press [Enter].

Adding a sibling node

Select a node with your mouse or the arrow keys then

• Right click the node, choose Insert node then Before or After (depending on where you want your new node) or
• Click on  to insert a node before or  to insert a node after and type the node name or
• Press [Enter]. This will create a sibling node after the selected node.

A new node will appear named "New subject." Type a name for the new node and press [Enter].

Deleting a node

Select a node with your mouse or the arrow keys then

• Right click a node, then choose Delete node from the context menu or
• Click on  or
• Press [Delete]

Renaming a node

• Right click the node and choose Edit node name or
• Click the node, wait, and click it again or
• Select the node and press [F2]

Type in the new node name and press [Enter]

Expanding or collapsing a subtree

To expand or collapse one level of a subtree

• Click on  to show the children or  to hide them or
• Select the node and use + on the number keypad to show the children or - on the number keypad to hide them or
• Select the node and use the right arrow key to show the children or the left arrow key to hide them

Expand all levels of the subtree by pressing [Ctrl]+A

Collapse all levels of the subtree by pressing [Ctrl]+D
